In 1986 Greg Harold bought Crystal Gardens Centre in partnership with his wife Sandy. The initial nursery was in Hurrell way in Rockingham. To assist in improving the nursery he started landscaping and at first this side to the business was only a small component, but over the years and seeing the nursery move from 3 locations, the landscaping side of the business became the dominant factor.
After the 2nd location in Rockingham was taken over by Bunnings, the nursery was moved to Hasler rd in Osborn Park. Nearly 10 years in this location and the start of the demise of small independent nurseries, the tough decision to close was made in 2005 and Crystal Gardens Landscaping stood alone. Greg and his team had a very unique advantage over the competition, his vast knowledge of plants and growing conditions that represent gardening in WA and the passion and inspiration to create gardens that work.
Landscaping has evolved into creating outdoor rooms and these areas require a broad range of skill sets. A landscaper has not only be able to be a paver but also a stone mason, block layers , skilled in carpentry and a thorough knowledge of reticulation. Add this to having the ability to design areas that inspire and you get Crystal Gardens Landscaping.
Greg and Sandy’s son Dirk, grew up in and around nurseries, gardens are in his blood, this added to his experience in building has added a further dimension to this business and it is Dirks passion and drive which is having an impact on the style of landscaping going into the future for Crystal Gardens Landscaping.
We were recommended to Greg Harold by our neighbour who had his landscaping and pool area completed in a very professional finish.
Our business includes commercial property as well as landscaping for display homes and hotels. I have worked with several contractors and found Greg and Dirk to be extremely professional in their approach. Greg and Dirk had good understanding on the design that we had intended and Greg was a good spouse mediator, combining different ideas for a great landscaping outcome. All in all, the result was extremely professional and all that have seen it, have been impressed with the outcome.
Greg was meticulous and tidy and very organised with the execution of works. he also endured our two dogs that would have been a hinderance throughout the works. We have no hesitation in recommending Greg for any landscaping needs.
We had seen Crystal landscapes work at our primary school and really liked their design of garden in the new playground area.
We contacted Crystal and from the word go communication was always prompt. We were always kept in the loop in regards to planning and work commencing. If there was ever a delay, due to unforeseen circumstances, we were always notified … Not something that happens regularly with trades these days.
Greg was very receptive to our needs. His design and thought process behind them were very clear and simple to visualise.
The team were polite and always professional and completed the job on time.
They come highly recommended.
Crystal Gardens Landscaping designed and constructed our front garden in 2010.
We were so happy with the end result, we got them back again in 2015 to create our back garden.
Greg’s ideas and plan design are very good and reasonably priced. He is amenable to taking on the whole job, just parts of it, or even doing it in stages. He is mindful of your budget and offers cheaper alternatives to get the same look.
He is very knowledgeable with plants & soils, easy to work with, and open to ideas and changes along the way.
We LOVE our garden and frequently get positive comments from others. It’s been said that we have the best garden in the street…and we’d have to agree!!
A big thank you to Greg & Dirk.
I am delighted with the work carried out and friends are already asking for your business contact details.
It was a real ugly duckling to swan transformation.
